Air Conditioning
What's Your Comfort Level?
An air conditioner can be one of the most expensive appliances you may ever buy--and the hardest working. At Comfort Care, we carry a variety of brands and models to satisfy all of your comfort needs as well as your budget.
There are many factors that should be considered when shopping for a new air conditioner. For instance, if you are having problems with even airflow throughout your home, it could be because you have inadequate ductwork. It could also be that the blower in your furnace, which is responsible for pushing the cool air through the ducts which is then distributed throughout the home, is not large enough. Or possibly the evaporator coil, which cools the air as it passes over it, is plugged or rusted therefore restricting air flow.
What You Should Know About Evaporator Coils
The evaporator coil is a part of the cooling system that is not always apparent to a homeowner, yet it is a vital component in cooling the home. All air flow from the heating/cooling system passes through the coil prior to being distributed in the home. Over time, the evaporator coil can become clogged from dirt or debris, usually caused by dirt coming through the ductwork or clogged filters.
Because air conditioners today are manufactured with high SEER ratings (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating), Comfort Care strongly recommends that a homeowner consider replacing the evaporator coil when deciding to change the outdoor air conditioning unit. The efficiency rating of the coil should match the efficiency rating of the new air conditioner, thereby ensuring you are getting the full energy rating you are paying for.
Did You Know?
In January, 2006, the federal government regulated the effici
ency requirements of all air conditioners. All manufactured units must have a minimum SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) of 13. The SEER refers to the energy efficiency of the air conditioning unit. The higher the SEER rating of the air conditioner, the more efficient the unit will be.
